Environment Vessels
This piece is Environment Vessel #3: Burn. The form was raised in copper from one disk. The rim is etched copper with cast bronze branches. The vessel is 6 inches high by 5 inches wide. It is incongruous how awesome a wildfire can appear, while being phenomenally destructive. There are many causes of forest fires, but global warming certainly has contributed to their increase and severity. Enameling processes include cloisonné, ceramic decal, limoges and sifting. The haiku etched around the rim reads:
Sky has turned blood red,
The air is acrid from smoke,
Stand and watch us burn.
